InterHarmony and Ungeeking Music Presents Rarely Heard Works

In this UnGeeking session, we will discuss and listen to two types of musical rarities: (1) interesting works by very well-known composers (like Mahler, Rachmaninoff, and Wagner) which, nonetheless are rarely heard, and (2) important works by much lesser-known composers (like Fritz Heinrich Klein) which are also rarely-heard. Key to the discussion will be why the works are interesting or important and why they are, nevertheless, seldom heard.

  • Where the Virtual becomes Actual

A Message from the Music Director

    Dear Friends,

I am excited to announce that this year the school our InterHarmony family now offers not only virtual studies but also in person at our fabulous location just steps away from Lincoln Center in New York City.

Now we have both: the virtual that becomes actual and actual that remains actual.

After concertizing as a soloist and a chamber musician most of my life, and directing international festivals for almost 25 years, the creation of this international institution seems to the most natural and efficient way help young aspiring musicians, and those who love music, pursue their dreams. I have always wanted to create a school where students learn how to play in the best possible way: something to the very point, a place that does not depend on age or level, where participants learn authentic skills, not just something generalized with empty big words describing music without depth and quality.

Interharmony worked out a Digital Badge Award Credential system allowing students of any age to establish a record of achievements that will support their career goals.

    Saint-Saens Septet

IISM’s objective is to cultivate the real musician at heart, starting at any age in student’s life, and surrounding them with everything necessary to attain that. Besides private lessons, IISM emphasizes classes and actually listening to music in order to hone in performance skills, such as music theory, solfege, music history, and a variety o fascinating topics.

Everything we do is only about the music. There is no red tape, and no administrative bureaucracy.

Since InterHarmony International School of Music is part of InterHarmony it provides additional performance opportunities for the students, participation in numerous showcases in Italy and Carnegie Hall in New York and masterclasses with world-renowned faculty and guest soloists with whom they could meet and study in person and virtually.

Our students have the possibility to meet during our summer European festivals if they wish to apply.

No matter what life brings, IISM strives for students to retain a love for music that will bring quality to their life.

I hope to see you soon.

    Warm regards,

    Misha Quint

PS: New! Certificates, Badges, and Awards for all programs with Credly

Students receive certificates at the end of the school year in completion of the Fall and Spring Semesters. The certificate displays badges/awards received throughout that year. Badges can be earned with points awarded towards specific areas of study, indicate a special skill (and show levels of achievement in that skill) or be awarded as recognition of achievement, talent, high effort in a certain area, or recognition obtained such as leadership, tone (as in singing), performance, etc.

Badges are officially distributed through Credly and can be added to professional social media such as LinkedIn as certified skills. These badges have provided an official channel to indicate to prospective employers advantages and skills they are seeking for hiring, or could be useful for Young Artist or Precollege students to indicate achievements as students apply to college programs.

InterHarmony International School of Music - Online

    Violin Master Class

Designed by the organizers of InterHarmony International Music Festival, InterHarmony International School of Music offers intensive classical music instruction on all instruments in a year-round program, creating the possibility for students to study with the most renowned performers and scholars from around the globe without the trouble of travel.

IISM’s professors teach at prestigious universities around the world, are members of acclaimed orchestras, soloists, and chamber musicians. They offer students global exposure to instruction not always available in their local area.

Group shot of music students at InterHarmony International Music FestivalParticipants of the InterHarmony International School of Music will be automatically accepted to the InterHarmony International Music Festivals in Italy and Germany if they wish to apply. Virtual students will have the opportunity to meet professors in person at the InterHarmony International music festival, where those who studied virtually will study actually. Students of IISM can gain access to masterclasses and workshops provided by the IISM faculty.

IISM provides an intensive musical experience each week with a choice of either in-person, with a combination of in-person and online, or online without students or parents needing to leave the comfort and safety of their home. With many physical precollege and continuing education programs in an active society, students and parents take hours out of their week commuting to extracurricular activities, need to stay on location for several hours, before commuting back home again. InterHarmony International School of Music allows parents and participants a break from getting in the car or on a train one more time, and provides comparable if not better musical instruction for students.

    • The study of music is a high artistic pursuit, whether participants envision their studies leading to a future musical career, a hobby, or to become a future audience member. Even if they do not want to become a seasoned professional performer, everyone deserves the experience of studying music seriously and intensively.

“If you’re young, it doesn’t mean you’re not advanced. If you’ve never played, it doesn’t mean you cannot play. If you’re a beginner, it doesn’t mean you cannot become a star.” ~ Misha Quint, Cellist and Music Director of InterHarmony International School of Music
