Marcel Bowman has a wide variety of performance and teaching experience. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University, a Master of Music in Violin Performance, and a Ph.D. in Music Composition from the University of Utah. Marcel is a violinist with the Ballet West Orchestra, Sinfonia Salt Lake, Utah Chamber Artists, and the Utah Lyric Opera and has performed professionally for 12 years with the Utah Symphony, among other ensembles in Utah, Idaho and Montana. He is also a regular studio recording artist and is sought after for music arrangements for a variety of ensembles. For the past 25 years Marcel has taught music theory and a variety of music performance courses at Brigham Young University-Provo, BYU-Idaho, the University of Utah, and Snow College. He is currently instructor of AP Music Theory, Director of Orchestras, and the Performing Arts Department Chair at Timpview High School in Provo, Utah. In addition, he has enjoyed coaching and directing several youth music ensembles and festivals throughout Utah. In his spare time, Marcel also enjoys performing and recording music with his wife and four children, who are also professional musicians.
