Mickey Reisman, violin
Mickey Reisman is an accomplished violinist, educator and conductor. In these challenging times of finding work as a performer or as a teacher, Professor Reisman is a versatile educator. Many of his students from the Orchestra Repertory Class he teaches at Hartt have gone on to become members of orchestras throughout the New England area and across the US. He also teaches improvisation in a variety of genres, and conducts the The Hartt School Community Division's Connecticut Youth Symphony. As a member of the Hartford Symphony's first violin section, Principal Second violin of the Springfield Symphony (MA) and a past member of the famous Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bayreuth festival Orchestra Germany, Professor Reisman has experienced first hand the importance of orchestral education. As a teacher, he reinforces discipline in playing and yet he uses his improvisation skills for more innovative and exiting performance. Part of good playing is a healthy pattern of thoughts through practice as well as performance. He is in constant demand for workshops and improvisation performances throughout the region. Professor Reisman holds bachelor and Artist diploma degrees in Violin Performance from the Academy of Music University of Tel Aviv and a Master of Music from The Hartt School. He has studied with Peter Bondarenko, the famous assistant of David Oistrach, and has taken master classes with such noted violinists such as Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zuckerman, Gideon Kremer, James Laredo and Dorothy Delay. Professor Reisman has performed as a soloist with orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout the USA, Europe and South Africa.
