Tatiana Kotcherguina, violin/viola
Tatiana Kotcherguina began studying violin at the age of seven in Moscow, Russia. She holds master's degrees in Viola Performance and Education from the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and Southeastern Louisiana University.
Ms. Kotcherguina has enjoyed a career that spans the globe. She has performed as soloist with numerous chamber and symphony orchestras and held solo and chamber music recitals for live audiences and broadcast. While in Moscow, Ms. Kotcherguina served as Principal Violist for the Moscow Chamber Orchestra and the Moscow Experimental Opera Theater. After moving to Mexico, she worked as Associate Principal Violist of the Symphony Orchestra OSUANL, member of the Quarteto de Solistas, and member of String Quartet "DUX." In 2001 she accepted the positions of Principal Violist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and violist of the MSO String Quartet. That same year she joined the Missouri Symphony Society and began serving as Principal Violist in their annual "Hot Summer Nights" festival. Since 2004 Ms. Kotcherguina has been an active member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. From 2004 to 2010 she was a member of the Sturgis String Quartet with the ASO.
A passionate, engaging educator, Ms. Kotcherguina has served on the faculty of many music schools and universities as a violin and viola instructor and a chamber music coach. She taught at the Institute of Music and Pedagogy in Moscow, Russia, before accepting positions at the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, and the Musical College of Fine Arts in Mexico. In the United States, she has served as string teacher with public schools, Henderson State University, and the Summer Conservatory in Columbia, Missouri. Among her other teaching positions in Arkansas are the music school Rhythm88, the School for the Blind, the Community School of the Arts with UALR, and CICA International Music Festival in Eureka Springs. She is currently viola instructor at the University of Central Arkansas. Ms. Kotcherguina's former pupils have developed into professional musicians with careers around the world.
