    William Barbini, violin


    William Barbini is a graduate of the Julliard School, and former member of the New York Philharmonic first violin section, where he appeared twice as soloist. As Concertmaster of the Sacramento Symphony, he appeared 13 times, performing nearly all of the major Violin Concertos. His numerous other solo appearances include a tour of Austria and Germany, performing Beethoven Concerto with Tonkunstler Orchestra, performances with the San Francisco Ballet, and many performances with the Monterey Symphony, where he served as Concertmaster for eight years. Mr. Barbini is also an active chamber music player and is Music Director of the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento. Recent performances included collaborations with Jon Nakamatsu, Rachel Barton Pine, and Helene Wickett. A dedicated teacher, he is on the faculties of CSU, Sacramento, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His students have won first place in many competitions, including Pacific Musical, Escondido, Washington, and others. They have graduated from Colburn, USC, UCLA, Juilliard, Manhattan, New England, Indiana University, Cleveland and Eastman.
