Frequently Asked Questions InterHarmony International School of Music

  • First, choose the program that is right for you. Then, fill out the application form. Applicants are required to either provide an Audition Video or participate in a Live Virtual Audition. We at the InterHarmony International School of Music believe people of every age deserve a true experience of playing music. The structure is more intensive, focusing on private lessons and details of solfege and theory that students could authentically use to improve their performing skills.

    • A Choice of In-Person, Online, or a Combination of In-Person and Online Programs
    • IISM’s professors teach at prestigious universities around the world, are members of acclaimed orchestras, soloists, and chamber musicians. They offer students global exposure to instruction not available in their local area. You could live in California and study with a professor in New York. More Info about our Professors.
    • Students receive a personal session with technical specialists who will establish and maintain the perfect setup for lessons and classes.
    • Besides private lessons, IISM emphasizes classes to hone in performance skills without unnecessary subjects or red tape. Importance is placed on private lessons, applicable music theory and solfege, music history, and a variety of fascinating topics.
    • The schedule is worked out on weekdays with no need to bring students to school on Saturdays, saving more time for themselves and families on the weekends.>
    • IISM provides an intensive musical experience each week without students or parents needing to leave the comfort and safety of their home. With many physical precollege programs in an active society, students and parents take hours out of their week commuting to extracurricular activities, need to stay on location for several hours, before commuting back home again. InterHarmony International School of Music allows parents and participants a break from getting in the car or on a train one more time, and at the same time provides comparable if not better musical instruction for students.
    • Important to notice that IISM makes classroom with smaller participant numbers, which makes learning much more intensive and beneficial then otherwise.
    • Participants of the InterHarmony International School of Music will be automatically accepted to the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy and Germany. Virtual students will have the opportunity to meet professors in person if the wish to apply to InterHarmony International Music Festival, where those who studied virtually will study actually.
    • Students of IISM can gain access to masterclasses and workshops provided by the IISM faculty. More information about the InterHarmony International Music Festival.
    • Student tuition is lower than the average preparatory or adult program in New York, San Francisco, and other cities.
    • Develop a relationship and network with internationally renowned musicians, many of whom are also university professors.
    • Our program is well-balanced, offering components of study that actually help students to play their instrument or sing without inflated subjects. The structure is more intensive, focusing on details of solfege and theory that students could authentically use to improve their performing skills. We want to give students all the tools for successfully learning classical music.
    • Classes are scheduled to strategically accommodate all time zones, so students worldwide will be able to enroll in the InterHarmony International School of Music. North America (US, Canada), Latin American, EMEA and APAC.
  • Yes, with many advantages to Online Learning:

    • Nowadays, Technology allows us to have private lessons and group classes, creating real conditions of a real classroom.
    • The screen of the computer brings the students closer and the professor doesn't have flexibility of leaving that spot, so staying in front to the screen makes for more focus on details during the lesson, which is a huge advantage.
    • Each week, IISM provides an intensive musical experience without students or parents needing to leave the comfort and safety of their home.   • As long as the internet quality listed for online classes are fulfilled, the connection should be high quality. Computers and tablets normally have built-in microphones. You may want to purchase an external microphone for better quality. More information about Internet Requirements.

  • Programs based on a 30-week academic year, divided into two, 15-week semesters: Fall and Spring. Please see our Academic Calendar for more information.

  • Student tuition is due before the first week of every semester. More information about tuition deposits, student tuition, can be found HERE.

    • Students who apply and are accepted to the InterHarmony International School of Music and pay their tuition for the whole year (Fall and Spring semesters), receive a 5% tuition discount.
    • Participants of the InterHarmony International School of Music will be automatically accepted to the InterHarmony International Music Festivals in Italy and Germany with an additional 10% tuition discount per session they attend. Virtual students will have the opportunity to meet professors in person if the wish to apply to InterHarmony International music festival, where those who studied virtually will study actually.     • An external USB microphone such as Blue Yeti or Apogee Mic+ is recommended for all instruments.
